A Pousada da Horta está inserida no Forte de Santa Cruz, edificado no centro da cidade com o propósito de a proteger contra os ataques de piratas que navegavam nestas águas em busca das riquezas provenientes da Índia. Este forte tem como vizinha a Marina da Horta, considerada uma das mais movimentadas e coloridas da Europa. A completar este cenário deslumbrante, ergue-se ao fundo o Pico, a montanha mais alta de Portugal, em todo o seu esplendor.
O exterior da Pousada é composto por uma muralha fortificada e por materiais provenientes de diferentes épocas, estando o seu mobiliário cuidadosamente adaptado às características históricas deste edifício singular.

Description

The Pousada da Horta is located within the Fort of Santa Cruz, built in the center of the city with the purpose of protecting it from pirate attacks that once sailed these waters in search of riches from India. This fort is neighbored by the Horta Marina, considered one of the busiest and most colorful in Europe. Completing this stunning setting, the majestic Pico Mountain—the highest in Portugal—rises in the background in all its splendor.
The exterior of the Pousada features fortified walls and materials from different historical periods, with its furnishings carefully adapted to reflect the unique historical character of this singular building.
